Live On Sacred Time · Chapter 4, Part 8

Climate Change

From Live On Sacred Time, by Nicole Myers Henderson

Public health is impacted by unsustainable behavior. Climate change affects public health. Human caused activities that affect the climate resulting in climatic conditions and variability.

The U.S. EPA says that changes in the Earth’s climate resulted from natural causes such as, changes in the Earth’s orbit, solar activity or volcanic eruptions. The Industrial era ushered in increasing effects on climate by adding billions of tons of heat-trapping greenhouse gases into our atmosphere that were caused by humans.

Those interested and wanting to know more can visit the National Research Council on Advancing the Science of Climate Change 2010, the National Academic Press, Washington D.C., yet please be mindful. There are groups that now believe that our government, big Ag, and big industry use this information to lie to us, to reason their abusive actions and atrocious behavior that has amounted to the killing of many people, and animals, all because they say the world is overpopulated, contaminated and in need of depopulation. What they aren’t openly disclosing is how their actions have created bigger issues that are leading to the destruction of life on this planet.

From years of research and now firsthand knowledge we see that climate change influences heat related morbidity and mortality. Higher temperatures increase mortality rates. Urban centers are left vulnerable to “urban heat island effect” which is caused by the lack of vegetation around large asphalt and concreted areas.

Just as heat causes issues, extreme cold temperatures increase the likelihood of influenza related illnesses and deaths, pathogen survival rates influenced by climate change cause infectious disease.
